I’ve learned a lot this year. I learned that things don’t always turn out the way you planned, or the way you think they should. And I’ve learned that there are things that go wrong that don’t always get fixed or get put back together the way they were before. I’ve learned that some broken things stay broken, and I’ve learned that you can get through bad times and keep looking for better ones, as long as you have people who love you.

sometimes you just feel everything and nothing all at once. sometimes you'll find yourself smiling while missing something at the same time. at times you can absolutely love a person, all the while wanting to hate them. life comes without guarantees, except that smiling will brighten your face, laughing will enhance your eyes, and falling in love will change your life.

deep grief sometimes is almost like a specific location, a coordinate on a map of time. when you are standing in that forest of sorrow, you cannot imagine that you could ever find your way to a better place. but if someone can assure you that they themselves have stood in that same place, and now have moved on, sometimes this will bring hope.

That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty, even if they’re not much to look at, or even if they’re sort of stupid, you half fall in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can.
